Riding in the city can be exhilarating, and demonstrations of bike handling skills are always great regardless of the style of bike. But I've never understood the glamorizing of riding through traffic like a total jackass. Color me unimpressed.

I hear ya
a video could put the wannabees in trouble

on a more serious note

why do car commercials do this same sort of thing?

car commercials and feature films?
tokyo drift/italian job/gone in sixty seconds
and any and every car commercial on the screen

SUVs dodging falling trees...
never touching the brakes
just swerving around
it just sets the wrong tone

I too am unimpressed
more so by the representation of how a car should be driven than the images in this film

the riders in this film are doing a few things that I would not recommend
yet it is still nice to watch
they have some sweet handling skills

Perhaps, but I'm not sure who the wannabees are trying to be. Couriers? Style is one thing, but you don't see motorists emulating cabbies. Hell, even NASCAR drivers get that a bike is better for getting around the city: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/greathomesanddestinations/24away.html?_r=4&pagewanted=1&8dpc&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

Not saying that chase scenes or reckless driving in film and tv are any better, but it's easier to police wrong messaging within our community.
