Years ago, I was strolling a local record store (yes, it must have been years ago if there were actual vinyl records). I was the only person inside. I noted in passing to the clerk that I was looking for something different.
He suggested that I try a compilation from Yep Rock Records. It included a number of tracks, all from the re-emerging genre of alt-country. It remains one of my favorite albums.
Little did I know at the time that that clerk who spoke to me in such a lovely honey bass tone was the lead singer for the Two Dollar Pistols. Give them a shot.
