Here in Greensboro, NC they look just like the one in your picture within the city but out in the country I have seen small pickups and sedans in use. When I lived in Ohio I don't think I ever saw a "standard" mail truck, they were all whatever the individual mail carrier owned (I lived in a VERY small town in a VERY lightly populated county).

our post man here in cecil county maryland drives a 88 chevy caprice with one hub cap left.
the mailman from funny farm; his day job is delivering my mail.
