New Belgium Invites One Washington, D.C. Role Model to Give Up Their Vehicle at Tour de Fat:

Don’t miss a day full of bikes, beer and bemusement!

Ft. Collins, Colo., May 27, 2015 – New Belgium Brewing’s traveling carnival celebrating man’s greatest creation, the bicycle, is returning to Washington, D.C. on May 30. The festivities kick off in Yards Park and New Belgium is still seeking one brave soul to swap their car keys for a bicycle helmet and live car-free for a full year.

The role model car-for-bike swapper is awarded a stipend to buy his or her own commuter bike. Swappers are chosen after submitting an application describing why they are ready to give up their vehicle for the gift of two wheels. Submit your video here: NewBelgium.com/Events/Tour-de-Fat/CarTrader.

The Washington, D.C. stop kicks off the 2015 season of Tour de Fat and will feature eclectic entertainment, yo-yo performances and even vaudeville acts. Everyone 21 and older is invited to sample new and classic favorites from New Belgium including the brewery’s flagship brew, Fat Tire, New Belgium’s latest year-round offering, Slow Ride Session IPA, and selections from the acclaimed Lips of Faith series.

Tour de Fat is free to participants, but beer and merchandise proceeds from the Washington, D.C. stop will go to:

Black Women Bike DC
Fairfax Advocates for Better Bicycling
Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts

CHURCHKEY TOUR DE FAT PRE PARTY

Where
1337 14th St NW Washington, DC, District of Columbia

What

Churchkey Tour de Fat Pre Party

Date/Time:  Thursday, May 28.  6pm-9pm

Next Thursday, May 28th at 6pm, join ChurchKey, Washington Area Bicycle Association (WABA) and New Belgium Brewing Company for an evening of Beers, Bikes and the Tour de Fat Warm Up!

Churchkey will be featuring 15 amazing New Belgium drafts, including 6 different Lips of Faith beers, and--as an extra special treat for 2015--we are pouring 5 different New Belgium brews on CASK!

Look for Oscar - Apple Whiskey Barrel, New Belgium's highly-revered sour brown ale (and the base beer for La Folie) that has been aged in Leopold’s Apple Whiskey Barrels, as well as the brand new Pear Ginger beer, Grazter (a dark smoke beer brewed in Collaboration with 3 Floyds), Wild2 Dubbel, and Cocoa Mole!

Rumor also has it that our friends at Bluejacket just brewed a new version of Sideshow, the dry-hopped Sour Blond Ale originally crafted in collaboration with the New Belgium crew, and they are sending a keg of this over for the big event!

WABA will be selling Raffle Tickets (1 ticket = $2, 3 tickets = $5, Arms Length = $20) for the chance to win a New Belgium 2015 Custom Cruiser. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit WABA as well. (You must be present at 9 pm for the drawing to win).
