Hello everyone! It's been a long winter and a quick spring and it's getting on toward trailbuilding time!
Dominion Power has donated a bridge to the park and it's been installed near the trail we built last year. Now we need to add some trail to tie it in. It's not a long stretch of trail, but being across a low area, we'll need to set some stone down to make sure it doesn't turn to mud! The county has provided the stone and it's on site. I'm getting the Canycom (hydraulic dump crawler thingy) to move the stone where we need it. so that will help.
I expect that if we get a good crowd, the trail will be done fairly quickly and we will move on to transporting the stone out to some of the bad wet areas where we can repair and firm them up. That should give us a good day of productive work that will have a big impact on the trails.
Show time is 9am at the ice rink. Bring your bike and we'll get a ride in afterwards.
When: 5/30 @ 9am-2pm.
Where: Meet at the back of the Skatequest parking lot at the end of Faraday Ct. (1800 Michael Faraday Ct; Reston, VA 20190)
What to wear: Sturdy boots and gloves
What to bring; Bring whatever food and drink you will need to sustain yourself for the day and the conditions. We will provide the tools, but if you have a wheelbarrow that you don't mind bringing, let me know.
