in 2020 there was an incident that involved a DC Police Officer and a young man on a LIME 49CC gas powered scooter
the incident involved a low speed chase
the young man on the LIME scooter ignored police request to pull over
there was a low speed chase down the street... through back alleyways... then when the police turned off their lights and backed off...
the driver of this scooter sped blindly into traffic on Kennedy Street
when entering Kennedy Street the driver was immediately struck by a an SUV traveling on Kennedy Street
tragic... sad... heart breaking...
this did not have to happen
but? it is not clear if the officer was at fault...
the officer is under investigation...

so sad that this happened
but it is not clear to me who is to blame
in some cases... people need to take credit for their own actions
as a father... this death saddens me
I think of the family and friends of Karon Hylton
the loss is grand... Karon was the father of a young child
just not so sure to what extent the police officer is at fault
the police officer may be an asshole
but... that does not make him guilty of murder
it appeared to be a low speed chase
the rider on the "moped" refused to stop even when his name was used in the request to stop
so lastly...
what about this sculpture and the graffiti that adorns it?
maybe this art could be a more pleasant thing to see than the current situation of urban blight
maybe muralists could work with the community and make this sidewalk sculpture something beautiful
right now... it is an eyesore...
maybe Words, Beats, Life or DC Walls could be commissioned to get this message about LIFE AND LOVE across in a more attractive manner
