that energy "when the circus comes to town..."
New Belgium brought that energy
years ago... New Belgium hosted a many city event THE TOUR DE FAT
now...
The Tour de Fat has always been a difficult concept to explain
it is its own thing
and well...
the name brings up some confusion
Tour de Fat was initially an effort to spread the word about Fat Tire Beer by New Belgium
and well...
they took the fun and energy of the Tour de Fat and turned the event into a major philanthropic event
where local bicycle advocates volunteers and the proceeds from the event went back to each of these bicycle groups

although the event was BEER-CENTRIC
it was also a wonderful family friendly gathering
my boys attended each year...
each of us enjoying the Bicycle Corral
there were all sorts of Kinetic Bicycle Sculptures
all rideable
this was an amazing event...
but beyond that
this event brought amazing people together
the event was not just about New Belgium Beer
this event was about Bicycle Advocacy
New Belgium worked to link bicycle advocates together from all around the country
these advocates could meet and share their insight into the situation
as well as sharing thoughts on how to be a more effective advocate for cycling
lots learned
and
lots of friendships were built
