Stay off Wet Trails... (sustainability)

Responsible Mountain Bikers know better than to ride WET TRAILS!
when the trails are soft they are vulnerable
so... responsible mountain bikers seek another activity
ride the bike on paved roads\trails
or
something completely different

somehow this trail ethic is not known to all trail users

hikers... dog walkers... bird watchers... and runners
do these people know these rules?
do they care?

funny... the mountain biker is historically the villain
one simple Mountain Dew ad campaign in the 80's and all people can think of when they think of mountain bikes is people tearing things up... splattering mud everywhere...
well... that is not the case

as said...
Responsible Mountain Bikers do not ride Wet Trails!

unfortunately...
so many others continue to use the trails when they are wet...
so often hikers and runners "SKIRT" the trail
walking on the edge of the trail in an effort to avoid the mud
thus... unintentionally widening the trails
this is especially obvious when people go wide around a puddle
that puddle gets wider and wider!!!

in winter this gets more complicated...
it is not just after a rain
but there is also the notion of FREEZE-THAW

Bicycling Dot Com on Freeze Thaw
NW NC MTB Alliance on Freeze Thaw

so... think before you "hit the trails"
where that is on bike or on foot
consider your impact

the same goes for soccer or ultimate
stay off the soft fields... seek out a turf field
do not destroy the fields
do not destroy the trails

be respectful
be responsible
don't be a dick
