Washingtonian Magazine: The Last Bike Messenger (The Chip Landis Story)

The Last Bicycle Messenger

EDITED: Read\Listened to the Article
I had not seen the print version... waited for the online version to make it onto the computer screen
and well...
here it is
thanks Ron Cassie
Ron had told me that it had been heavily edited
there are things I like about the article and things I do not care for
I was thinking that they would use photos that I took of DC Messengers and plugged my book
then when they interviewed me... I did not want to be labeled as a bicycle messenger (although I did work as both motorcycle and bicycle messenger on and off for years)
then when they mention my bout with heat exhaustion.. they mistold the story and did not mention that I was passed by several racers as I sat on the side of the trail, when the fifth racer passed me... I then put my helmet on thinking I had recovered... there was only one more checkpoint and the finish
I was able to catch and pass each of those five racers who had passed me
finishing 3rd
the telling of the Heat Exhaustion and not telling about the third place finish is like telling a joke and leaving out the punch line
that article was nice
good press for Chip Landis and a few others
but Johnny W was interviewed and no mention etc.
and Brian Clark aka Bigs got a nice photo... but also no words
oh well.. editors
