Chimney Rock SC is nearby and has a nice swimming hole/lake. Oh and slide rock just inside of Pisgah, also the falls on the way to slide rock (can't miss it, they're right on the road). They have many, many great farm to table restaurants in particular. Brunch at Early Girl if fabulous. I could live on the sweet potato and sausage scramble. I wanted to go to the French Broad Chocolate Lounge when we were there last, but there was a line out the door and halfway around the block in below freezing weather, so we did not manage to do that.
