The Dead City Alleycat 2021 - Mega Bonus Check Point... Battleground National Cemetery on Georgia Avenue NW...

The Dead City Alleycat 2021...
this race took the racers NORTH...
starting at Dupont Circle and ending at Fort Slocum

but before the Fort Slocum Finish... there was one more stop...

****MEGA BONUS CHECKPOINT****
Battleground National Cemetery
6625 Georgia Avenue NW DC 20012

Bonus Checkpoints were "optional"
the event was a Points Race
the racer with the greatest number of points would win
finishing slot would dictate a winner in the case of a tie

this race had the very unpopular strict scoring of the first manifest
the race had a contingency...
complete first manifest
correct and complete first manifest or the racer scored an incomplete

at the Battleground National Cemetery racers had to a three part task
the task was "all or none"

racers needed to answer two questions correctly and take a selfie

if one of the answers was incorrect or missing... no points would be scored
so... 350 Points for all three
ZERO if one of the three answers were incorrect or missing

**** MEGA BONUS ****
Battleground National Cemetery

"How may eagles are on the flag pole?"
"How many grave stones encircle the flag pole?"
and
take a selfie with the Gettysburg Address...

All or None...
similar to the first manifest
this bonus check point was... All or None

it must have been fun...

The Dead City Alleycat started in the day... but ended in the night
sunset fell several hours into the race
racers who went to this final bonus check point were more than likely there in the dark
in my mind... this must have upped the fun factor

I imagined racers counting and re-counting the grave stones
44 being the correct number of gravestones
4 being the correct number of eagles on the flag pole

in my mind... this was a fun final checkpoint
another cemetery in a Halloween themed alleycat...
well... it seemed appropriate

it impressed me how many racers actually went to this last and final Bonus Checkpoint
it was maybe a mile and a half past the Fort Slocum finish
which means... the up and back to the finish added more miles
more miles and more climbing to a race that was already filled with climbing and miles

but... it you were in it to win it
you had to try to grab these points

I believe it was an Amazing Race
not to be confused with The Amazing Race
