Carter Barron... Will Carter Barron Open Again?

Carter Barron Amphitheater in Rock Creek Park
basically abandoned...
always closed in winter
has been closed for the past couple of summers
no shows since 2016

What is the future of the Carter Barron Amphitheater?

there are a variety of loops that I like to hike in Rock Creek Park
one loop passes by the back fence of the Carter Barron Amphitheater
the beautiful snow on the seats drew me in
had to take a stroll
a little exploration
fulfilling some basic curiosity

Carter Barron is a Ghost Town!

on many of these hikes I have noticed lights are on in the theater
Exit Signs... lights in some of the rooms... etc...
I have also seen people walking around
all of this heightened my curiosity

so... I took a stroll through with my camera

there is a little Graffiti
but not much vandalism
looks like people tore through stuff in the offices
it is really a bit of a mess
a little mess

some beer cans... but not much sign of such activity

there is the update page
there is talk about repair and restoration
but...
What about partnering with another promotion company?

having semi recently attended concerts at Merriweather Post Pavilion I have an idea of how different a renovation can be
Merriweather then versus now is like NIGHT AND DAY!
maybe there could be a partnership with IMP

not that Carter Barron should be ALL DONE UP like Merriweather Post Pavilion
it is more about the idea of potential
the brains behind IMP may have a good understanding of the entertainment goals of Carter Barron
and what sort of venue space would best suit this crowd and this use?

this is the IMP business...
IMP knows entertainment

What about this Biden Administration?
is there MONEY from these "green initiatives" that could be allocated for Carter Barron?

Rock Creek Park is AMAZING
but... really
it seems neglected
in recent times there seems to be more of an effort
but... often the park is just in its natural state
not much done to improve the park or its trails

I WOULD LOVE A JOB WITH THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE!
It would be cool to work with the NPS as a liaison to the recreation of the NPS parks in the DC area
although many of these parks are Federal
so many of the users are Local

in some ways the NPS understands this... but in others ways they do not...

it is good to see that they are renovating the sand volleyball courts adjacent to the Lincoln Memorial
but... what about more sand volleyball courts
people set up badminton and volleyball courts each weekend
why not make these permanent?

and now it is WINTER... in case you can not tell
how about EMBRACING the sledding and XC Culture?
and ice skating?
there could be some very simple things to make sledding and skating a little more fun
but FUN is not the NPS agenda
often they act to stop fun
examples of this would be planting trees on a sledding hill
or
planting a tree in between two trees that people use for a "slack line"

okay... I got off topic...
but really... if the people have spoken... LISTEN

in Rock Creek Park there are all sorts of "unofficial" trails
recently there are signs telling people to stay off these trails
the intersections of these trails have been blocked
but I see this as IGNORANT
rather than blocking these trails
I think they should EMBRACE these trails
take the good and re-work the bad
these now CLOSED trails are in many ways superior to the legacy trails in the park

that is enough now...
I really just wanted to share these photos of Carter Barron in the snow!
