THIS IS EPIC!
THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!
Grant's Achievement as an rower has been dynamic
his strength and fitness is displayed in his ERG Scores
his 2K PR is SICK!
but... there was question about the team and its potential
in early spring... there was a question mark as to whether or not this team had what it needs to WIN
the winter training trip to Florida built not only fitness but a bond within the team and its members
everyone worked harder...
harder in practice...
harder outside of practice
everyone on the team improved on the ERG
they placed in some races...
they were strong locally in this very competitive Mid Atlantic Rowing scene
racing against and scrimmaging against so many strong teams in the DC metro area
as the Spring developed
there was a different notion about this team and their potential
Coaches Pushed their Rowers Hard!
Coach Joe dangled a trip to Henley in front of the rowers
demanding that they up their fitness
threatening them that low ERG scores would eliminate them from consideration
so... the team worked on things
as a team
as individuals
as a team outside of practice
as the season pointed to a few major events
the Wilson Crew got its stride
with their sites on Stotesbury... the team united
the team delivered
WILSON Varsity 8 Men won STOTESBURY
it was awesome
it was historical
then the following weekend
the Wilson Varsity 8 Men went to the SRAA Scholastic Nationals
they had to prove that they were not a one trick pony with one lucky day
Wilson V8 won their Time Trial
Wilson V8 Won their Heat
and then in a nail biter of an race
Wilson raced a beautiful race and won the SRAA Nationals
Grant was the Stroke Seat in the 2022 SRAA Nationals
just as
Dean was the Stroke Seat in the winning boat at the 2019 SRAA Nationals
MY SONS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
I MAKE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
What a moment!
Glad I was able to attend and witness in person...
Dean and I went to both events together
in Lisa times...
Lisa would have attended and I would have shied away
