Roz...

22 hrs ·
Sean Martin of TOLA did this write up of my monster Roz! Check out his blog too.
Is riding with dad so bad?
some times I need to give the kids some space
let the kids explore things out from under my shadow
so I wandered around the area with the camera while the boys ran around in the "holler"
had to stop... do not always want to stop
do not always stop
but sometimes I need to all the children to do as they wish
they wanted to climb around this underpass
I get it... so we stalled for a water\pee break
they got to run around for 5 minutes
then
back on the bike
this was the first couple of miles of our twenty mile ride
Grant was complaining about a stomach ache
I told him "stomach ache on the first mile? that is a tough way to start a 20 mile ride"
both Dean and I tried to give Grant a pep talk
tried to let Grant know that once he started pedaling he would get a rhythm and forget about his stomach
both Dean and I tried to give Grant a pep talk
tried to let Grant know that once he started pedaling he would get a rhythm and forget about his stomach
that was true
but each stop had Grant starting out slow before warming up again
but each stop had Grant starting out slow before warming up again
so tough balancing the energy and strength levels of a 10 and 12 year old boy
look at that smile on Grant's face... he can not deny that he had fun on this ride
it was forced
I hustled him along
I pushed him
I listened to his complaints and ran them through my filter
and well
the boys each had a good time and made me proud
good day on the bike!
Beautiful- but too sticky to ski... Yet I tried
Didg Digging the Deep Powder!
Dean and I did an early assault on the local sledding hill
we got in a few runs together
then marched back with the dog
Dean got home just in time to return to the hill with his peer group

then marched back with the dog
Dean got home just in time to return to the hill with his peer group
good father son time
then... good to let the boy hang with people his own age
while Dean was out sledding
I played some Connect Four with Grant then went out with the cross country skies
it was too late in the day
the soft powder had gotten heavy
heavy and sticky
I marched for 2 hours and 44 minutes thinking that I could find some decent snow
at the end of my journey I ran into Garcia
Garcia was packing it in
the sticky snow was not worth the effort
he was more shrewd then myself
Garcia figured out in a half hour what took me nearly three hours to discover
Snow Day... Grant was not feeling 100 %.... not cleared for outdoor adventures
so we played some Connect Four and listened to some musics
there was a bit of a theme with his Green Day and Mackle Moore Mix
Walking the dog.:. Always more interesting outside the house
the dog must be walked... as we never trained him to use the toilet
it is pretty standard that I walk the dog three times a day
it is pretty standard that I walk the dog three times a day
early am... home from work\dinner time... and then a short one before bed
often I drag the boys along with me
just like any activity with the boys other than video games
it all happens at gun point
no... I do not own a gun
but it is that type of pressure that is needed to help them to do what is best for them
they fight me on everything
as if they do not enjoy it
once into the action they love it
but only after they drag their feet and raise my blood pressure
and Didg
Didg needs no coaxing
well... unless he gets the scent of a fox
then there may be a moment of frustration
his focus is tough to break
especially if he is trying to find the fox

bikes and Portland... this guy was a Trailblazer
Bill Walton on a custom track bike
great randomness
this article reminds me of our family trip to Poland
9 Houses Built out of Spite
http://mentalfloss.com/
this collection of stories reminds me of the towers of the old church in the old city of Krakow
the same church that possesses the folk tale of the bugler of Krakow also has a tale about its mismatched towers
the story has a tragic ending and no real lesson
there is something to the effect that one brother built one tower and the brother built the other
one built their tower taller and more ornate
this agitated the brother
so he killed him
across the the square within view of the towers is a market
at the main entrance to the old market hangs a knife
that is said to be the knife that the one brother killed the other
not sure of the truth to this story
